چکیده

The principles of Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM) modulation have been in existence for several decades. However in recent years the attention towards OFDM has grown rapidly in the field of wireless and wired communication systems because of its advantages. The main problem of OFDM is high Peak to average power ratio (PAPR) which affects the performance and efficiency of high power amplifier used in radio system. PAPR reduction was required for radar and speech synthesis applications. In multicarrier modulation the orthogonality between closely spaced subcarrier is necessary in order to overcome inter-carrier interference (ICI).This ICI reduces the bit error rate (BER) performance of the system. In this Through simulation, we verify that the BER performance improvement can be achieved by the proposed peak windowing method and also give the comparison between the Kaiser and Hamming window techniques through the cumulative distribution function (CCDF) and power spectral density. Index Terms — Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM), Peak-To-Average Power Ratio (PAPR), Peak Windowing, Nonlinear Distortion.

Using WPT as a New Method Instead of FFT for ‌Improving the Performance of OFDM Modulation

Orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) is used in order to provide immunity against very hostile multipath channels in many modern communication systems.. The OFDM technique divides the total available frequency bandwidth into several narrow bands. In conventional OFDM, FFT algorithm is used to provide orthogonal subcarriers. Intersymbol interference (ISI) and intercarrier interferen...

Performance Improvement in OFDM System Using Modified Sinc Pulse as Receiver Window

The Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM) system have some problems such as carrier frequency offset, timing offset, and Peak to Average Power Ratio (PAPR). The impacts of these problems results into inter carrier interference (ICI) which affects the bit error rate (BER). Therefore, suitable methods are required to mitigate ICI at the receiver. In this paper a new pulse shape, by mo...

An Efficient Scheme for PAPR Reduction of OFDM based on Selected Mapping without Side Information

Orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) has become a promising method for many wireless communication applications. However, one main drawback of OFDM systems is the high peak-to-average power ratio (PAPR). Selected mapping (SLM) is a well-known technique to decrease the problem of high PAPR in OFDM systems. In this method, transmitter is obliged to send some bits named side informati...

Improvement of BER for OFDM using Equalization and Windowing for AWGN and Rayleigh Fading Channels

The orthogonal relation between the carriers among different users is well known in OFDM. The overlap of spectrums of various users can be achieved thereby enhancing the spectrum efficiency of the communication system. OFDM is a popular multicarrier modulation technique which is currently being explored for use in the IEEE 802.11e (WiMax) standard. In OFDM, the orthogonality between the closely...
